What is Florida's Child Restraint Law?

All children under 6 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat may be used. (FL Statute 316.613)..

Penalty for violation to vehicle operator is $60 and 3 points.

Children from approximately 40-80 pounds and 4'9" should ride in a belt positioning booster seat. Never place a child in a child safety seat in the front seat of a vehicle equipped with a passenger air bag.

If you cannot obtain your own child safety seats please notify our dispatcher and she will try to obtain safety seats for you. Please note: extra costs will incur for child safety seats we must obtain.

Alcohol Possession and Open Container Laws

Florida Law prohibits the possession of open containers of alcoholic beverages by the driver and passengers of most motor vehicles. –This group includes the following ground transportation: Taxis & Airport Shuttles.

An open container is defined as "any container that is immediately capable of being consumed from, or the seal of which has been broken". Open containers must be carried in a locked glove compartment, locked trunk, or other locked non-passenger area of the vehicle. The driver of a vehicle with an open container anywhere else in the vehicle, yet not in the physical control of the container, is guilty of a non-criminal moving violation and subject to a fine. A passenger found in possession of an open container of alcohol is guilty of a non-moving violation, punishable by a fine.
