  Ghostly categories

A dark thought,  shadows are anymore "evil" then any other form. I have broken down  a few into some  categories, but these twisty thoughts are by no means the final word on what 'ghosts' may be..

Shadows-  Shadows are probably the most common sighting of a spirit and natural explained events can account for many of the sightings but there are plenty of encounters that show us that this is a real form that spirits can take. Exactly why they appear as shadows is unknown but two very possible explanations are that either light is not reflecting off them right or that the spirit did not have enough energy to form a compete apparitions.

Ghost / Spirit-  When we die our mind does not get erased we keep everything we are and take it with us. Right now you are a spirit controlling a physical body. Spirits are simply people without bodies.

Imprint-   An imprint is a non spirit/ghost that reenacts certain events. What causes these imprints are not really known it is believed to have something to do with the energy fields that surrounds us always. When there is a disturbance in the energy the location records the events in the area and play them back until the energy that caused it changes or dies down. A good example for this is a ghost train that is sighted on a certain time every so often.

PoltergeistGerman for "noisy spirit"   seems to straddle the categories of ghost and psi (the term applied to unusual abilities of human origin such as ESP and psychokinesis, and the investigation of "exceptional human experiences" such as out of body and apparitional events).

Orbs-   An orb is a solid sphere of energy that holds mass and can act in an non natural way. This topic is one of the most debated topics among ghost hunters.

.

Vortex-  The vortex is a long cylinder of energy. They seem to be connected to orbs in one way or another due to photographic evidence of orbs coming in/out of a vortex and floating around them Some believed that these vortices act as a doorway from our plain of existence to theirs. Camera straps and the like are commonly mistaken for a vortex.

Product Reviews  TRI FIELD Natural EM Meter

The Paranormal Stew welcomes your input on paranormal research. Contact Us

Quite honestly I would recommend a tri-field meter.  Far more sophisticated and far more dependable.  Unfortunately it's far more expensive...expect to pay around 300 bucks.  But it's worth it to a serious investigator.

The Tri Field Natural EM Meter is a favorite of paranormal researchers. While we make no claims either way about the usefulness of ghost detection or psychokinetic experimentation, remember that science cannot claim to be impartial unless the possibilities are explored with available methods - and perhaps re-explored when new technologies emerge. Many scientific tenets we now take for granted were initially laughed at by contemporary "scientists".

In addition to measuring changes in extremely weak static (DC or "natural") electric and magnetic fields, the NATURAL EM METER gives a readout of radio/microwave signal strength in mW/cm2 and has and audible alarm. The threshold of the alarm can be set at any level from 0.01 mW/cm2 to 1 mW/cm2. Using both a needle type meter and audible tone, it detects: radio transmitters, geomagnetic storms, unusual magnetic solar activity, electrical activity of thunderstorms, leaky microwave ovens, magnetized rocks or bed frames, analog cellular phone EMF output, and concealed surveillance bugs.

The trifield is a nice piece of equipment but it has one problem. It picks up human movement and energy from the body very, very easily. When using it, you have to do it almost by yourself and your team has to be at least 25 feet away from you. The user has to walk very slowly and also try to note any areas of spikes by himself." However, this is a small shortcoming for having a very accurate piece.

Paranormal & Parapsychological Researchers find the Ghost Detector simplifies detection of entities or phenomena which disrupt existing fields, since the meter is engineered to ignore man-made  powerlines and appliances, etc., eliminating a plethora of false "positives". This feature is extremely uncommon in instruments priced under $2,000!

Oh boy! Now you get to hear from me! First thing you need to know is that this was designed to detect WEAK changes in the DC magnetic field. Then second thing you need to know is, despite what you may have seen others do, you CANNOT walk around with this. I have actually seen ghost hunters waving them around on television and on DVDs. It MUST be stationary for it not to give false readings. Once you have it turned on, and where you want it, another good idea is that YOU and everyone stays still. These devices pick up magnetic energy moving through the field. So, if you're using it to "detect" ghosts, put it on magnetic. If you put it on sum, it will pick up magnetic and static electric fields, eliminating man made electrical souces. If you want to try something fun, set it on "sum," point it towards a wall, and have someone walk on the other side of the wall. It will pick that person up, it's that sensitive.

Putting it on magnetic reduces the chances of false positives in my experience. First I first got one, I put it on sum because it excited me to see all the readings. Then when my cat walked by and set it off.... LOL. So putting it on sum, while you may get "more" readings, you won't really know what you're getting. You're not looking for HUGE swings with the meter needle. Personally speaking, I've been in a number of situations in which a "witness" will say, "There's the ghost!" and my TriField will be registering erratic readings, and my Natural EM will show a slight reading at the same time. If you have, or can get a copy of Loyd Auerbach's "Ghost Hunting," there's a great picture of this happening on page 108. By the way, I always use it after I've gotten anomalous readings on my TriField, and I've ruled out natural causes for it. For reasons no one knows yet, apparitions do seem to effect a Natural EM. When it comes to using the Natural EM and TriField together, I like to say that in common usage, the same things don't set them both off. In UNCOMMON usage, the same thing does set them both off. That "thing" seems to be apparitions.

Finally, I want to congratulate you on purchasing this piece of equipment! I have found it invaluable in my investigations. I'm sure you will in yours.

As with any meter, you need to use it in the appropriate range as necessary for the investigation.  What I mean by this is that the selections are ranges.  On my lab quality Ex Tech it has only two selections, these are Gauss for the Gauss scale and who's name sake the range is named.  Also there is Tesla, for that scale and who's name sake the range is named. In your instance with the choices offered you probably should check each range in each location you check.  I know dependent on the currently present field I may change the range so as to take the "noise" out of the reading output by the meter.

If you are looking for some in depth information on any equipment your best bet is Ghost_Hunter_1954  here on the system.  He's also an equipment developer and is highly recommended

All instruments use procedures that the operator (you) use to extract *meaning* from. You'll find what works and what doesn't. Try systematically to take "known" sources of EMF and use this to build a baseline of experience from. You can create a database of sources that provide you with non-paranormal sources that will give you a template from which to work from and which can help identify things that are *not* paranormal.

All measuring devices that people use and derive meaning from are extensions of your senses. Once you see it this way and relate it to the sorts of environments you'll be in, then you'll start getting "value" from the device.

The cheaper meters that are produced are only set to read the high AC field, so they read more often.  With this meter you can use the lower DC setting when ghost hunting.

The natural Tri Field is probably the best meter out there.  It is not effected by man-made magnetic fields quite as much as other meters are.  The most important thing to remember is that it is only a tool for guidance.  It is a great way to see where you want to snap a photo or set up a camera but cannot offer any proof of the paranormal.

I use the sum mode.  Anything past a 4-10 is suspect (my opinion). Now these are very touchy and the best thing to do is to lay them down in the center of a room and watch it.  Do not walk around with it as every little movement will set it off.  It has a 6 foot radius so it should be able to pick up everything in a small room.

Theories and some educated guessing

Now one really has the answer to what they are for sure. There is no way to test this theory at this time. Nor, do I think it will be possible for quite some time. But, here is a theory.

Given that EMF (electromagnetic field) detectors do not always pick up the presence of a spirit, one would have to conclude that if they were a charged energy like electricity, we would be able to detect them all the time.  So, spirits should be a neutral charge with all the electrons and protons in the molecules balancing the charges of positive and negative charges much like a piece of plastic or metal would be.  Spirits would be a state of matter that is neutrally charged. Which if they were, it would make spirits virtually impossible to pick up using an EMF detector.

Even humans are detectable with EMF detectors. We are like a machine where our bodies are producing energy and taking in energy all the time. All living things have some energy that they emit.

So, what are the EMF detectors picking up?

OK, ruling out naturally occurring electro magnetic fields from iron, copper, limestone, and a host of other elements that can create electromagnetic fields on their own, I believe what they pick up is not the spirit, but, the area that the mass of matter that a spirit is, affects. This would be in the idea of static electricity.

This would explain why EMF detectors do not always pick up a presence when there are experiences at a site where people have no doubt of a spiritual presence. But, sometimes do pick up something on some occasions. It would also explain fluctuating readings and not having consistent readings.

When matter attempts to occupy the same space it can cause a friction or rapid movement of the atoms in the surrounding area that make up the air. Much like walking across a carpet with socks and you get a shock from touching a doorknob. The movement of the mass into the area, (especially suddenly or when there is more than one mass) would cause all the atoms of the atmosphere of the air and area to move and crush the molecules against each other into a smaller space, disturbing the electrons in the atoms that make up the area. This would cause an electromagnetic field (energy). Which means, what is detected by an EMF detector, is the area affected by the spirit, not the spirit itself.

What about the Cold Spots?

Cold is the absence of energy (think of outer space). We know from many reports of spirits and my own experiences that spirits can manipulate energy around them. They can also move objects and things. So, not only could you be feeling the spirit themselves (cold spots), but, might be feeling the manipulation of that energy
