Jameson Inn  -  Date: Saturday, January 13, 2007

Crestview - Jameson Inn - In the year of 2000, a new hotel was built next to Cracker Barrel off of Interstate 10 in Crestview. The paranormal activities have been linked to reports that, the hotel was built upon burial grounds. After visiting some of the local burial grounds, small grave yards and hidden burial sites, this is more than possible. Evidence shows that perhaps up to 10,000 years ago Native Americans were living in the area now occupied by the hotel. A number of projectile points have been found and burial mounds dot the area offering mute proof of times long past. One such burial spot is suspected to here (pictured below), an area directly behind the Inn.

Within a year, strange happenings were going on. An apparition of a man was seen walking through the hallways of the second floor and frequently hanging around the elevator. I also took a few moments to scared the shit out of investigator Samantha; I came up behind her while in 206 and told her in low voice to …get out. Needless to say, no matter how much fun scaring the Samantha was, I must advise against doing such, she does not forget easily and you know what they say about paybacks….lol.   Needless to say my fearless   investigator stayed right on my heels and could not be pried off without a crowbar.  –   There have been complaints from guests that have stayed in the room 206, about strange smells, Cigars, cigarettes, and other things are mysteriously left there emanating out of nowhere.

COONHILL CEMETERY

Date: Sunday, February 4, 2007

Location: Coon Hill Cemetery- Santa Rosa County, Florida

Time Arrived: 1: 05 a.m. Central Time

Investigators Present: Samantha, Christopher, Robert

Moon Phase: Full Moon

Temperature: 39 °F

We searched for Florida haunts in the northwest panhandle and felt this location was worth checking out. We admit, we were only looking for some great haunted locations but NOT looking to get the crap scared out of us. It was only after our original visit did we decide to dig deeper into this areas legend. As we arrived at the cemetery, you could really feel a drop in temperature as you draw close to the cemetery gate. A foggy mist emanates all around us as Samantha exclaims to the group “Look at these vapors-they seem almost alive” as Samantha takes several pictures from outside of the cemetery gate.  Christopher notes the graffiti and pentagram painted on the wall surrounding the cemetery. Only after our visit did we discover that some occultist activity has transpired on & within the cemetery grounds, which maybe to blame for the resulted vandalism. We decided to return to site continue investigating at a later date.

Summary of Events:

1:11 a.m.  Samantha notes a strange fog rising around the cemetery, digital equipment –functional and time noted.  Team approaches gate at road leading towards cemetery

1.14 a.m.  Temperature drop noted as team tours towards the southwest boundary

1:18 a.m.  Samantha notes faint lights near the cemetery gate, fog vapor and   pictures are taken

1:27 a.m.  Christopher’s flashlight fails near the graffiti, left of cemetery gate entrance

1:33 a.m.  Samantha and Christopher feel extreme cold chill which seemed to surround them. Samantha noted it as being a wet cold. One of the temp readings went as low as 27 °F, a 12° drop in the temperature.

1:41 a.m.  Samantha states it’s just too cold to continue, we return back to the vehicle – a pleasant 64° inside. Samantha reviews digital pictures of fog mist and orbs are captured.  One more rather spooky place visited, everyone has enjoyed the trip and its out in the middle of Nowhere Ville location. Robert barely drives 2 miles before feeling nauseated and continues on another 5 miles where he throws up (stomach flu – apparent cause).

Date: Thursday, February 8, 2007

Location: Coon Hill Cemetery- Santa Rosa County, Florida

Time Arrived: 9: 36 p.m. Central Time

Investigators Present: Samantha, Robert

Moon Phase: Waning Gibbous

Temperature: 56 °F

We decided to return back to Coonhill only to take some picture of the cemetery entrance. As we parked and exited our vehicle, we felt a very ominous feeling around us, as we approached the gate at the road leading to the cemetery. The temperature was a nice 56°F and 58°F at the Tom Thumb store close to the Chumuckla Elementary. We made the decision to bring our jackets anyway which by the way was a good call, for the temp slowly dropped the closer we drew to the cemetery. Samantha appeared uneasy as we arrived at the cemetery gate. Samantha looks towards me and said:” we need to hurry up we have another cemetery to go to tonight”. “We won’t have the time to do that this evening Sam”, I replied, while I continued to take pictures of the entrance to Coonhill. Meanwhile the same ominous feeling was warring on both us and neither of us would admit it to each other. It felt like a heavy presence surrounding us and drawing closer. We started to move towards our vehicle, at this point I heard what I could only describe as foot steps coming towards me from my right side. (possibly wild creatures near by) I turned and stopped to take pictures in direction of the sound and slowly walked backwards take more shots as we moved closer to the vehicle. One last note, as we arrived back at the vehicle, I moved to the passenger side door to let Samantha in and as I was doing such I saw what appeared to be a strange orange glow or reflection, on the door glass - seemed odd, so noted.

Noted Events:

9:36 p.m.  What felt like a strange and eerie presence seemed to greet us as we exit our vehicle and start down the dark path towards the cemetery

9:38 p.m.  A temperature drop noted as we move within 20 yards of the cemetery gates

9:45 p.m.   Pictures begin to taken of the main cemetery entrance, about 20 feet away from gate.

10:10 p.m.  Samantha notes what seemed like faint voice, feels a chill surround her and begins to feel most uneasy. Samantha starts to move away from the cemetery, as she asks if enough pictures have been taken.

10:27 p.m.  What sounded like something approaching could be heard from behind us, as we walking back towards our vehicle. ( quite possibly  wild creatures , moving about)  I start walking backwards, while taking pictures in the direction of the approaching sound.

10:35 p.m.  What seemed like an orange glow or refection on the passenger side door window quickly disappears – explainable perhaps but none the less noted.

SSPR Equipment FYI

We do ask that members bring some equipment to conduct investigations as well as  helping in some acceptable manner, from time to time, to raise funds for the expense of new gear, it can be a costly thing to do and we'd only want people who are serious about doing this sort of thing. If you want to just hang around alleged haunted places to scare yourself then we're not the group for you. If you're seriously seeking answers and are open minded then we may consider taking you on. If you think you already have all the answers either way, again we're not the group for you.

Investigation Equipment

A Notebook and pens/pencils: Notebook is a good way to keep notes, records of time or a journal of events.

  • Camera:: Digital and/or with film. Video or camcorders are also very good and should be used.
  •
  •   Recorder:    digital recorders are recommended should be in use at all times during any investigation. Also we recommend one that records files in MP3 format; for easier downloads to   computer for later after review.

  • Flash Lights: Always have bright flash lights (usually 3 or 4) and extra batteries. Sometimes candles may be used but don't count on them staying lit.

  • EMF Detector:   EMF Detectors can pick up electronic fields over different frequencies. Where there are phenomena there are usually disruptions in the electronic field. You should try to get a hold of one or more of these for all field work. As a guide line each person in your group should have one on hand.

  • Thermometer:  A good thermometer can detect changes in room temperature quickly. It's best to use the old fashion mercury filled, red line, thermometers.   Electronic thermometers  might fail right when you need them.

  • Compass:   Great for navigation if you know how to use one and also great for picking up those electromagnetic forces. A compass will react to any magnetic or electrical stimulus that is out of the ordinary. Same rules apply here, try not to use the electronic compass's. Stick to the simple boy scout, needle points North version.

  • Infrared  Thermal Scanner:        These saves on infrared film and time by accurately pin pointing the cold spots. These scanners are excellent to use in outside investigations.  This is not something that you must have, but if you can afford, it give it a try.

  • Communicators: When you have a team of three or more people headset communicators are a great idea for staying in contact when spread out. You can use the hand held walkie talkies but the headset frees up your hands for holding cameras etc.

  • Spot Lights: Small battery powered spot lights really help at night when it comes to setting up and taking down cameras and other equipment. They can also be used for safety and to get a better view of the surrounding terrain at night.
